Josef Bachmeier, Dr.med.vet., private poultry vet and consultant for whole chain chicken management, studied economics at Regensburg University and veterinary medicine at Munich University. He worked from 1983 until 1989 in private veterinary practice in Straubing, Bavaria and joined 1990 Brüterei Süd – a member of PHW-Group www.phw-gruppe.de, www.wiesenhof.de – located in Regenstauf South Germany close to Regensburg. From 1994 until 2018 he was General Manager of Brüterei Süd with an annual production of about 60 mio chicken. Brüterei Süd is the south German chicken integration of PHW Group. Currently he is retired from PHW Group and continuous working as a private consultant and expert for the whole chicken chain.

He has a certificate as poultry veterinarian specialist and is a member of the PVSG of the EU www.pvsgeu.org, WVPA, WPSA,DVG and Labelbeirat (label advisory board) of Deutscher Tierschutzbund (German Welfare Association www.tierschutzlabel.info).
